RACE//BOSTON//CULTURE

Alt People Of Color. There are only a handful of us living in Boston – or at least that’s how it feels (um, it might actually be true). This city has limited resources for those of us with multiple identities and aural/aesthetic influences. With exception of a couple venues, I’ve yet to find a place outside of my house, where all of my complexities and interests are understood and celebrated – not categorized or politicized to death. I’m sick of feeling isolated, tokenized or like the other Other.

I just want to go out and meet dope queer (or queer friendly) brown people without feeling like I’m joining a sorority.

I need to start a lil’ bohemian club like Afro-punk –> http://www.afropunk.com/ or the short lived Negroclash parties –> http://www.djlindsey.com/blog/about/. The club is tentatively called Lil’ Brooklyn (and has like, 6 members), but I’m open to name change suggestions.
